Crysis Wars Mapping/Modding / Virtual memory error
November 02, 2009, 09:18:52 AM
Ok this will pop up alot when your editer crashes. It is cuased by not having the right type of video card for editing serious editers use quadro effects cards that have gigs of memory but the are no good for gaming and only if you want to pay around a grand for that card but anyways to clean virtual memory follow these steps.

Step 1Virtual memory is a system enhancing functionality implemented for Windows operating systems. When you have multiple programs or tasks running at the same time, Windows creates one or more virtual memory pagefiles that store information not used by your pc memory (RAM). These page files can sometimes contain sensitive information such as credit-card numbers and passwords you enter, and hold you up on downloads and possible slows your computer down.

Step 2To make your computer clean these files automatically, just follows these easy to read steps:

Step 31. Click Start, then click Run...
2. Type "regedit" then click OK. The Registry Editor will be displayed.
3. In the left menu, expand the following registry keys in this order:
4. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, SYSTEM, CurrentControlSet, Control, Session Manager
5. Click the Memory Management folder,
6. In the right pane, double-click ClearPageFileAtShutdown. The Edit DWORD Value window will be displayed.
7. Type 1 in the Value data field, then click OK.
8. Exit the Registry Editor.
9. Restart your system so the changes can take affect.
now you should be safer, faster, and more at ease...

Crysis Wars Mapping/Modding / Mapping Getting Started
November 01, 2009, 10:38:21 AM
Ok first thing to do is go into C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis Wars\Game\Levels\Multiplayer create a back up of the multiplayer file. Next when you get ready to mod your map pick one that has the terrian features and textures you are looking for next copy the map file to your my documents directory. Then choose a name for your map and rename the folder to your map name. Next move that file back to   C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis Wars\Game\Levels\Multiplayer\IA. Then open up your editer and under file select open file find your map name and open up the cry file. no depending on what you want to do i recomend deleting everything off the map this can be done easyly by finding the select objects tab and hit select all every thing in the map will now be hilighted just hit your delete key and hit yes then you have an empty terrian to work with you may have holes in the map just go to rollup bar and select the terrian block find holes tab and select remove hole just use this to remove the holes that my be left in the map. To change what the terrian looks like use the modify tab here you can leavel or add mountains or remove mountains just by playing with the height and size of the outside inside radius. adding vegitation is covered in the links below along with decals and voxels. The next thing is adding buildings this can all be done in the role up bar under brush do not use archetype entity thes will not show on a ia tia map geom entity is where you will find prop vehicles and weapons and a few other things just have to look whats in there. Ok under brush first thing is get an idea of what your looking for scroll down to fin the filter box type in what you are looking for some things are not named what you would normaly think so you may have to type in differant names for things to find them but most of the time you will find them. Next is adding weapons and vehicles to your map do not get them under the roll up bar the will not respawn right go to your database view under the view tab at the top of the editer next select open view pane and look for data base view know you may have to load the folders for weapons and vehicles if you are modding a power struggle map. The next thing to do is right under neith the entity library find the folder with a green arrow on it open that. Open up all files in there so you have the the weapons.xml is your weapons and pick ups_mp is your ammo pick ups. Vehicles_mp is your vehicles you want select the folder in there ounce its opened up in your enetiy library selcet instant action these will all respawn if the are far enough apart from other objects. For any other ? add me to xfire and i will try to answer them to the best of my nolidge. Xfire account name is urhdocholiday all lower case. Note if you have a 32 bit os the editer runs very unstable i recommend a 64 bit os.
